Cast of characters: Laurie

This beautiful woman is the mother-to-be of my second grandchild and a sibling for Cecilia. With the predominance of Falter genes in my offspring, we really need Laurie's Hopkins genes to produce a child who doesn't need a GPS system to find the car in a parking lot!

Laurie is an only child -- and only grandchild -- and brings a lot of class and intelligence to our family. Not only is she the best partner possible for our Mitch, but she is like the sister Beth never had. They even look a bit alike and both share a love of dogs.

Mitch met Laurie in Worcester, Mass., at Clark University, after he and Cecilia's mom had split up. It was meant to be from the start. She grew up in Dracut, Mass., a small town near the N.H. border, and she loved horses. Now she has a master's degree in applied economics from Johns Hopkins and works for the Dept. of Energy in its oil futures department. So if you want to know the real poop about what's going on with oil supplies and prices, she's got all he answers.

Along with Mitch and Beth, Laurie is an introvert who is glad to stay in the background, but she can't hide her light under a bushel for long. She's too smart and too much fun and too pretty to do that.

Laurie will bear my next grandchild in August, so she'll have to get used to seeing a lot more of me. And she and Mitch have an auntie Beth, greedily waiting to get her hands on the wee one.

I couldn't ask for a better daughter-in-law than Laurie. She's the best!

Very nice bio of Laurie-sorry I have never gotten to know her. I did have this picture of her, and have placed it on her ancestry page. Very impressive, Laurie :) You will be sharing a birth month with our Don and Regi-she is due near end of August. This will give Don and me our sixth grandchild !

Thanks for the very kind bio! I also have an announcement-- looks like it's a boy! We had the sonogram this morning, and even though the little guy was being stubborn with the positioning (takes after Mitch, no doubt), they were able to get a picture of what they think is little boy parts. Somehow, I've just thought it was a boy all along!
