The "Bu"

Officially, the 1964 Malibu Super Sport. I knew this was supposed to be the family car, but oh how I pretended it was mine, mine, mine!! Of course Nan and I fought over the keys, and she usually won. And Mom was so kind to let us drive it as long as we picked her up from work which I'm sure we never failed to do. At the risk of sounding as old as I am, $2/worth of gas went a long way, and Mom and Dad let us put it on their Shell card. :) Would you buy a used car from a daddy like that? You sure would!! :)

How I loved that car! It made me feel cool, and everyone in town knew it. You didn't mention, though, how it got totaled when you were in the library, and the insurance company took it and sold it to someone who fixed it up. Later, Dad saw someone driving it around town and bought it back for him, ensuring that I would be cool until I graduated from college. It's my favorite car of all time.

Mine, too. I got tired of writing so let you mention that it was totaled when in my possession. However, although it was parked across from the library, right in front of ---agggh, John's journalism school building, I was actually taking a final exam down over South Bridge. As we know, to park in Athens, you took what you could find. It was on a corner and two semi trucks went around that one-way two-lane corner together and one shoved the other into the Bu, totaling it! Dad and I toured the car auctions looking for a replacement, but at every possiblity, we just shook our heads. So he went to those shade-tree body shop guys and bought it back. It survived even YOUR departure. He drove it to Florida once or twice after that. I can't figure out why I can't buy it now on ebay!!
