On the road - NOT

So we were all ready, we thought, to load up the van and the 5x8 trailer on Monday to head to Florida-- for how long we did not know. Six weeks? Three months?

But then I realized yesterday with bags sitting at the front door waiting to be loaded that I don't want to go back to Florida just now. It doesn't feel right.

1) With temps now predicted to be up to 107ºF this coming week, it's rotten traveling weather. Imagine packing up the car in this heat. Imagine if the a/c should go out on the van. Both Walt and Louie are would be in serious danger of heatstrokes!
2) Walt's family seems to be waiting for us for a family conference I am not wanting to be a part of, and
3) we haven't heard, as I had expected a couple of months ago, that we will be getting the motel back -- at least not yet.

Walt wants to buy the new iBot wheelchair that climbs curbs and steps and will stand him up to look us all square in the eye, but it will still be there a few weeks from now.

So we're postponing this trip. We're going to hole up in the a/c and pool and wait this hot spring month out. Once the tropical rains come in the afternoons, it'll cool down to mid-90º's. We can deal with that. And for those of you who are curious, look at the map and picture a road nearly circling the Gulf. Our road follows the coast from the tip of the Yucatan peninsula to the SE Texas border, and then along the Gulf through Houston and New Orleans area to Florida, or, a more pleasant but slightly longer route, is to pick up I-20 east of Dallas and work my way east and finally cut south to Tallahassee where we visit with Johnny for the last night on the road.

And don't ask me which is "home" -- Holmes Beach or Merida -- because I don't know yet.

Since we have been blessed with intuition, we should listen to it. I would never (never, never, never) start out a trip in that kind of heat. Unpack and chill out, sweetie.

Yeah. Like as dumb as starting out in a winter blizzard, huh? I'm chillin'! :) Actually, what's packed is stuff that I don't need down here so it can just go straight to the trailer to wait it out.
