Boys and their toys!

Some of you may remember Walt's less than lovely but dearly loved old motorhome we called "Winnie." He and Sergio drove it to Ohio for the reunion at Burr Oak for Mom's and Dad's 70th anniversary. I was always horrified by it. And remember the time he was driving it home from Mexico and didn't come within two days after leaving me a message that he was in Louisiana, and had in fact turned north and disappeared on me for 4 whole days?

Well, apparently a guy, at least this one, has to do this every now and then. So for his birthday, I got him this lovely little travel trailer called a "toy hauler." It's a combo cargo and travel trailer and the back end drops right down to become a wheelchair ramp! The kitchen is nicer than any I've ever had, and it's got a little bathroom with a marine toilet and a tub that will require doubling up his 6' tall/long body in half to get in it but I have faith that he and Sergio will rig a way for him to bathe or shower. Even though it's brand new, there might be some power-sawing going on. I never know!

So when gas is as high as it's ever been, he's got this itch to GO. I'm sure he'll be up to visit me in my little toll house where I will be planted as I have as much of a need NOT to be on the road right now and he does to take off. He wanders. No need to ask where he's going nor where he's been.

I believe I detected a glint in Sergio's eye, too, and I have to laugh remembering the first time Sergio came to Florida with Walt and Walt made him drive a rental car the 5 hours from the Miami airport and he was huffing and puffing about how he'd NEVER been expected to drive so far in his life! ;)

I have a feeling this Blast 150 (15' long) will end up in Mexico before the summer's over. Where in the world he'll park it down there I do not know. There's an old trailer park there, though, so knowing him, he'll make a deal with them to park it for $20/month or less! ;)

Boy voyage and vaya con Dios, Walter!

Go with God, indeed, Wally. You've got Peck's wanderlust, so take his spirit right along with you. It won't take up any room, and he'll be delighted every minute and every mile of the way.

You are goin' in style, baby!

Yes, indeed; Peck would have been the first to offer to drive Walt wherever he wanted to roam. Dad sure had the wanderlust his entire life. He was always ready to drive somewhere or anywhere! He had an insatiable desire to see all he could see! I sure miss his zest for life.

Where will he park it? More like, where won't he park it down there?
