Where is the new Falter baby? Well, he has decided to be fashionably late, so my understanding is that if he doesn't make his debut by tomorrow, August 16, he will be pushed onstage.
Even though due dates are approximations, the waiting seems doubly hard once that date has passed. And if it's difficult for me, think about Mama Laurie and Papa Mitch! Not to mention his Auntie Beth.
Anyway, in the meantime, this is how I imagine my new grandson: the slow, little turtle, swimming happily inside his protective environment, waiting offstage until just the right moment to grace the world with his presence.
We're all your lords- and ladies-in-waiting, baby boy.

this baby is no turtle,
mark my words.
Ah, our prophetess speaks! So you think he's being ornery?
Well, little Thomas, have you awakened yet? It is the 17th! Your cousin Rebeka is still in hiding too :). There is a lot of family in waiting to love the two of you!
And in the meantime, I'm also waiting for little Nickidoodle and his momma to arrive by plane (not stork) next Saturday night! :) Hopefully by then he'll have two more 2nd cousins! :)
(Or is it first cousins once removed?? Agggh. I never have learned that!)
No baby as of about 5:00 p.m. even though Laurie has been on the drip-thing all day. Water broke mid-afternoon, so there will be a C-section if he doesn't come out on his own in the next several hours.
Not sure if he'll he an August 17th or 18th baby, but by hook or by crook, there should be a baby tomorrow.
He is here!! Born August 18 at 4:41 a.m., weighing 8 lbs.!
Mitch says he looks like Phil Collins. I can barely concentrate here at work - I am going to try to get off early to go see him while he is fresh.
He won't get "maduro" for quite awhile here, Aunty Beth! ;) We're waiting for your report -- and pictures!! Oh, and Libby needs to know that Laurie will have HELP at home!!
