Our Cecilia

Just like her dad, under a blanket
Laughing with Kevin
With her birthday coming up on the 25th of this month, Cecilia is now a grown-up, age-wise, even though I think she was the most adult child I've ever known. That's not to say she doesn't know how to have fun -- the photos I've posted show that she is a happy and fun-loving person. Always has been. It's just that she has always had this curious, innate sense of being responsible, more than most adults I know. It's one of hundreds of things I admire about my only granddaughter.
So she is now at DePaul University in Chicago where she's studying theater management. And I remember so well when she first went to "tech" when she transferred to a public high school in Plymouth, N.H., and how she took to it like a duck to water.

Just to prove to the rest of the Ajax Rock sitters and occasional visitors that this amazing child is now an amazing young woman, I've stolen some photos from her Facebook page. The proof is in the pudding. We'll get to see her next month, but in the meantime, this is an early happy birthday to a remarkable and loving and perfect granddaughter!

There's that Aunt Beth look again!

So she's gone from our Perfect Child to our Perfect College Kid. :) And you forgot to mention S-M-A-R-T!! :) (Hi, Cecilia!)

She has always been like a big sister to me. :)

And she is not perfect - she did one confess to me that when she was 8 years old, her mom told her not to take her scissors outside, but SHE DID! At the time, she said it was the naughtiest thing she had ever done. I bet that has changed by now, but I am not sure I want to know. ;)

I remember wondering if she would ever "break bad," but like you, Beth, I don't think I want to know. Nothing like having the pressure of being perfect, is there, Cecilia? And that scissors incident? Well, I think we can communally forgive it, don't you? See, Bethy, you do have a big sister. Just be glad she doesn't push you around. Aha! Just thought of a tiny "flaw" (more of an oddity, actually): She doesn't like dogs. Weird.
